Every once in a while we read about a law that makes us feel like “Hey, wow. Sometimes the government really cares.” Today is one such day, because Oregon has just passed a new leave law. Beginning January 1st, 2014 the Oregon Family Leave Act requires employers to provide bereavement leave to eligible employees who have a death in the family. Employees are entitled to a maximum of two weeks of leave per death of a family member, up to 12 weeks total a year.
Our partners at Barran Liebman have more on this new law here.
