Along with gifs and emojis, telecommuting is one of the greatest developments of the digital era. But do the benefits (doing your work in your pajamas) outweigh the negatives? The CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer, is getting a lot of flack for her recent decision to end work-from-home arrangements – citing that they limit brainstorming and innovation. Mayer’s move goes against a national trend towards permitting telecommuting, which many employers embrace because it lowers overhead costs. I personally get most of my good ideas while in the shower, so maybe I should negotiate a “work-from-spa” arrangement.
