Stop, collaborate, and listen – because the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is back with a brand new centralized facility and a revived lust for fines that can only be matched by an entity that carries with it an equal or even greater lust for fines.
Not sure what I’m talking about? Here are some numbers to give you an idea:
- ICE has undertaken 3,015 investigations so far this fiscal year.
- This number is an increase of 154% over inspections initiated in the 2008 fiscal year.
- ICE has fined employers $9 million so far this year.
It would seem the people at ICE are taking their jobs seriously nowadays. (And seriously, who does that?) Especially with their new Employment Compliance Inspection Center (ECIC), which, to quote the soon-to-be-linked article directly, “appears to be fully operational.” (And fully staffed with storm troopers.)
