When you consider our busy schedules, the convenience of fast food, the not-so-healthy-but-always-easy options in the building cafeteria, and countless other factors, it’s no surprise that most of us could use more exercise.
This is especially true for those of us who sit at a desk all day. A study mentioned in a May 2009 article of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise said that sitting a great deal of the time can increase the risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and even certain cancers.
But enough with the problems; let’s get to solutions! We’ve found an article entitled, “Workday Workout,” that has some great suggestions for how you can keep fit right at your desk! In the article you’ll find such exercise options as:
- stretches and deep breathing techniques
- a quick step into the break room for a classic – jumping jacks
- the seated leg raise and hold
- the sitting twist – famed for transforming Chubby Checker into Not So Chubby Checker.
