Love them or hate them (and sometimes both (and sometimes both at the same time)), Walmart has a huge footprint, carbon and otherwise, and any green initiative they can put in place is good for all of us. Straight from the Walmart website:
Our broad environmental goals at Walmart are simple and straightforward:
- To be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy
- To create zero waste
- To sell products that sustain people and the environment.
And if we can learn from what they do and how, so much the better.
Walmart has encouraged more than 500,000 of their employees to get involved with their own wellness, their community, and/or the environment by doing two things:
- asking a question
- recognizing the story.
And they are finding an extra bonus: new leaders are emerging from within this group of 500,000 volunteers – leaders who continue to green the company .
